Full reason for rating.Impact on fish habitat.
Water pollution poses a serious risk to marine life as well as humans that depend on rivers for fresh water. In the ocean some types of pollution cause algae blooms that threaten corals and disturbs the balance of the various species in the area affected by algae blooms. Although this might reduce the fish population in a given area, governments are very slow to adjust quotas to suit the new fish populations. So, when they finally adjust quotas the damage has already been done.
